New year dawns

New Years celebrations! Yesterday during the day I didn’t get up to a hell of a lot, just cleaning up the house and updating my online version of this diary, which is now completely up to date. I think that’s about a month’s worth of diary in one day… my bad! Anastasia’s cousins Ryan and Brandon, Elicia’s friend Susan, Jen and Chris all came over for the celebrations, which entailed sitting around chatting, laughing, having dinner, watching American shows as they counted down to 2004 (including one which had a New Zealander perform the haka!) and letting off fireworks.

Yes, there were Roman candles and yes Mum, I did hold them in my hand and fire them into the air and no Mum, nothing caught on fire and we all had a good time!

There were firecrackers, mortars, sparklers (complete with the “I like sparklers” in honour of Siobhan) and roman candles. Lots of fun! I like fireworks! Talked with Jen a bit, she showed me some stuff she’d recently gotten from Angel Heart, then inside with all of us for video games (boy does it help to have a huge TV or what?!) and then bed.

Slept in (as usual for New Year’s Day), got up to see Anastasia and cousins playing Zelda. After lazing for a bit watching them play we all then went to Anastasia’s grandmother’s for a big family dinner, including games of “telephone” (a.k.a. Chinese Whispers) and place-cards with our names on them! Anyway it was a lot of fun and I had fun talking to everyone. Steven attempted to teach me how to throw a miniature American football while I was there. After that Anastasia and I just came back and chilled out. I watched the Scooby Doo movie.
