Malibu!
Today was my day with Jen. To start off, Jen came over and gave us her Christmas presents, which was a pair of very nice scarves which she had hand-made.
After Jen picked me up we went to the parking lot of Walmart, which was too busy, so we went to her apartment. The apartment building that Jen lives in is pretty damn cool. It’s got gated parking and all the rest. Pool, gym, games room… the games room has foosball, pool tables, air hockey… six floors of cool apartments in a big yellow building. It’s out by USF, which is where she and her room-mates go.
So we watched a bunch of anime, including the rest of Genshiken and the start of Mahou Sensei Negima. We also had a bit of a trip out, partially due to Jen’s boyfriend, Chris, being a slacker. (Burn!) We took a trip into USF to pick up a single sheet of paper. That’s right, a single sheet of paper. It was a sheet of information on USF’s pre-vet program for Jen’s cousin, Amanda.
After the diverting ten minute trip to USF (5 of which was driving), we then went back to Walmart and decided it was always busy at this time of year and we might as well go in. So we went in. We looked around at bedlinen (since I need to get some for when I head off to UW in January. I have decided that whoever is in charge of most of the design decisions for the patterns on the bedspreads just craps on a piece of paper, looks at it and says “Hey, that’d make a good bedspread!” There was, wait for it… one plain comforter (this is American for duvet). That one was ok, but not exactly a colour (yes I still spell like a New Zealander) that I was inspired by. So, I guess I’ll buy it somewhere else. After looking at all the bed-stuff, we went and looked at yarn, we matched some colours and hey presto we have more scarf-preparation material.
Then, back to the apartment. More of the aforementioned anime. Oh, and I met her room-mates as well… whose names I have, in true Leith style, totally forgotten because I’m writing this almost a week later.
Jen cooked ‘Mexirice’ for dinner for everyone in the apartment as well as Anastasia (who showed up just prior to dinner starting) and I and… Josh from down a few floors. Wohoo, a name! Ahem. That was nice, and was served in weird folded nacho chips. Ensue lots of dinner conversation and stories and stuff. Chris showed up later to join in the storytelling in his usual inimitable style. Anyway… after lots of chatting and so on, Anastasia and I went home.
