Last day in warmer climes
Today was my last day in Tampa. Tomorrow at some hideous hour of the morning I get up with Anastasia and head to the airport, where I shall then proceed to ‘head out west’.
After a nice wake up (to no alarm), Anastasia and I cleaned up from last night and did some general tidying in preparation for Elicia coming over. Elicia spent the day in the house watching football and arguing with people on the phone over the deficient hospital care that her uncle was receiving. On that front, eventually she managed to get Rick transferred somewhere he can be looked after properly. Anyway, Elicia came over mid- to late-morning, followed by her friend Diane and Diane’s son, John, who would be coming to the football game with Anastasia and I. Anastasia was going to braid my hair (yes, she does that every now and again, all of you long-hair-nay-sayers can just shut up), however she was having a bad day with it, so Elicia ended up doing it. I can’t say that I would have thought that was going to happen! I don’t think that she would’ve been able to say it was going to happen, either. ^_~
Anyway, off to the game with John. I think I’ve already postulated on the generality of football enough for one blog, so I’m not going to go into that again. All in all it wasn’t a bad game – we won! This means that the Bucs are the NFC South Division Champions, which is just awesome. So now they’re in the Playoffs. This was also a milestone in that prior to this game, the Bucs coach Jon Gruden had lost three games and won none against the New Orleans Saints at Raymond James (the home stadium).
After the game we went home. Diane came back and then left with John after a brief chat, as they had somewhere to be and they wanted the Washington Redskins to win – apparently if John actually watches them play, they lose. If he just hears about it, they win. For the curious among you, the Redskins improved on the field the moment John was walking down the path outside the house!
Anyway, while Anastasia watched the football and Elicia alternated between watching the football and arguing on her phone with various medical professionals and pen-pushers, I did a bit more work on my computer. After that Anastasia and I packed up most of my stuff (some of it I’m leaving in Tampa) and ordered a pizza for dinner (which took forever to get here). Elicia left before the pizza arrived to head back to her friend’s place. By the time we were all done, it was time to catch a few hours sleep before getting up absurdly early in order to get everything sorted and out to the airport.
