Conversation issues when it doesn’t rain
I got up today to something of a miracle. It wasn’t raining outside. I know, tough to believe. Grey skies, but no rain. It did of course rain later, but for a while the air was dry… totally weird, but very cool.
Anyway, I talked to Anastasia online for a while, then I went grocery shopping with KyungNam. We went up ‘the Ave’ to Safeway, which while Kyung touted it as the larger of the local supermarkets, it still seemed only small-to-medium sized to me. Still, groceries are groceries. When I got back it was time to sit down to do some accounting and emails (they just never stop), then have a bit of a tough time multi-chatting again. I haven’t done that for a while… it’s a lot harder to keep track of talking to 5 people at once than it used to be. This particular bout of multi-chatting even included a brief Skype call to Chris in Papa New Guinea!
I went downstairs to grab some chow and ran into Aidan and a friend of his (Sani? Sorry, I don’t know how to spell her name) from Taiwan who is over here (well, over in Bellevue I think) working and visiting. I joined them for some chicken and found out some interesting stuff about Taiwan. Very people cook at home apparently, because going out and eating a meal is a ~$1 exercise. Makes sense, I guess. On top of that, Taiwanese people apparently think that chicken legs are totally the best part and that makes them more expensive. They’ve apparently got more recipes for it or something. This is somewhat contrasting to the Western perspective of the breast meat being more ‘desirable’. Go figure.
I talked to Anastasia a bit more before she went to bed, then got going on familiarizing myself with my graphics assignment. Boy, it’s been a while since I’ve done any C, and now I have to pick up C++ by osmosis. Yeesh. On top of that, I’m developing under Windows using the new Visual Studio 2005 IDE, which I haven’t really done a lot of before. Ah well, no time like the present to learn.
Well, after that I watched freshly downloaded anime and television, talked to Robbie over Skype for a little while, then crashed. Forgot to catch up on blog… oops.
