Had some trouble getting up in the morning, but I made it to class. It was the first seminar for Graphics, and was some organizational stuff, then discussion about two particular graphics problems – identifying ‘irregular’ behaviour in videos, and automated aesthetic grading of images. Pretty interesting discussion, although a very different approach – this was “sit down and think up a solution to this problem” without giving us the paper that the questions were based from. I think we get to read the papers later or something.

Anyway, after that I head back to my apartment for lunch, email and a hot shower (boy did I need that). I just did some homework and stuff, wrote up some notes, that kind of thing. From there I went back in to university to pick up a digital camera to use for my 3D Photography homework. I later re-read the specifications and I’ll need to go back and pick up a tripod as well… woops. I took the camera back to my apartment, shaved then headed back to university for my meeting with Brian about my research. That went really well and it’s looking like I’ll be doing some research along the Computer Vision line, model reconstruction and the like. Finally! That’ll be sorted out and I can get started… looks like this quarter is going to be absolutely packed – I’ve already got a full load of classes, plus research. I think I’ll probably end up taking one of the classes as ‘audit’ rather than for credit – I go along and listen, but I don’t have to do the assignments and so on. The only difference from any other class that people just go to for interest’s sake is that it still appears on your transcripts so that people know you have at least some knowledge in that area. Anyway, hopefully that’ll all work out!

From there I went to the Anime Club’s weekly screening, which was good. Saw some more of the stuff I started watching last week, some of which I still don’t really have any idea what’s going on. The others are a little easier to understand and I had a few good chats with some people again. Dinner this time was just my grabbing a burrito and bringing it back to the screening hall. I officially signed up for the quarter and paid my dues. Towards the end of the evening I went back to my apartment, did a few emails then went to bed as I was pretty tired. No rest for a while though. I think I got to sleep at about 3-something in the morning.
