My day in… er… bytes
I had a bad morning, didn’t go to Architecture. That was ok though, I apparently didn’t miss much. I was late to Photography, and again, didn’t miss a whole lot apparently. I went over the slides and stuff later on. After that class I had a brief discussion with Brian about getting together for our meeting, and I met Steve Seitz, who is likely going to be the other faculty member with whom I am involved with.
I had Skype discussions with Dave and Dad about work stuff, which was productive. I’ve got to do a whole bunch of working out and talking to other people in order to get some things done (yes Richard, that means you) and work out specifically what I can handle, work-wise, during the rest of this quarter.
I then went out to a presentation at the Adobe offices here in Seattle with Dan Goldman, a PhD student here at the UW. Very interesting presentation on in-painting and some other visual techniques. Dan was good to talk to as well, and pointed out a bunch of nice little places in Fremont, where the Adobe offices are. He used to live around there.
The bus back to campus was really late, I missed my SIFE meeting (again). I really need to sort out a time when I can meet up with these people so that I can figure out a way that I can help and contribute.
I was also late to the Microsoft gig in the Atrium (which meant no food) which was a really interesting talk about the Internet Singularity given by a guy who sounds like a very interesting person.
Afterwards it was back up to my office, talk to Anastasia for a while and do some emails, then pack up, head off to dinner (Thai, tried to relax as I ate), back to apartment, took out all the rubbish and stuff, then worked on my assignment I found out that not only is my assignment due, but I need to give a short presentation to the class on the ‘due day’, which moves up by a few hours when I thought it was due, and also adds ‘public accountability’, which is slightly more scary prospect that just submitting something into the ether. I was up until 4.30am trying to make progress.
