Hiring a new me, last trip to Tampa
This week was monstrously busy at work again, doing a lot of stuff for the Ignition visit, fixing the big printer (a skill I didn’t know I had) and doing the hunt for someone to replace me. Trawled through resumes, made lots of calls, and had a few interviews. One has really impressed me with her ability to get organised, general intelligence, abilities and willingness to learn the more game specific stuff, so unless a better candidate shows up, I’m going to recommend hiring her. Tomorrow I go in for the last few interviews, then it’s up to Barrett to do the interview for the guy I couldn’t see before I left.
Other than work this week, I watched Kill Bill Vol. 1 with Anastasia, talked to people online, watched Tin Man (which I thoroughly enjoyed) with Lea and Anastasia, had a fun playing cards and drinking sake night and just generally did all the usual stuff.
The other thing of note is that this weekend I took my last trip down to Tampa. Anastasia and I had dinner out with her mother and a friend of her mother’s at Side Berns on Friday, we had lunch with Anastasia’s father and his wife on Saturday, I got my hair cut again… we had dinner with Jen and Josh that night out at Channelside, too. I got to see Jen’s engagement ring (those two just looked extremely happy, which is all good) and then we went to watch Beowulf 3D, which was also very cool. I talked some business stuff while I was there and we went out to the Village Inn and saw Jess for a while as well. This morning Anastasia and I went to her aunt and uncle’s to see everyone over there, then drove back to Gainesville before just chilling out together, folding some laundry… generally enjoying our domesticity. All in all it was a pretty good trip down.
